After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s degree in English literature, Tavaner pursued her interest in magazines in Texas Monthly’s advertising department. She left in April 2008 to become the managing editor of Texas Home & Living magazine. Tavaner completed her master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism in June 2011. After the Carnegie-Knight News21 fellowship this summer, Tavaner will move back to Austin to pursue her professional interests in storytelling and media strategy. Twitter. LinkedIn.
