A New Jersey native, Erica Demarest graduated from Wake Forest University in 2008 with a double major in German Literature and Studio Art. After finishing her bachelor's degree, she moved to Berlin, Germany where she worked, researched and taught as a Fulbright Scholar. In September 2009, she moved to Chicago to begin work on her Master's degree at Medill, where she is studying investigative reporting and long-form writing.
